What is "Mondo Cane"?

Original Title: Mondo Cane
Country: Italy
Year: 1962
Genre: Documentary
Directors: Paolo Cavara, Gualtiero Jacopetti, Franco E. Prosperi

This film is a documentary rolled by Paolo Cavara, Gualtiero Jacopetti, Franco Prosperi.
The movie had a huge international success and was nominated for the Oscar in 1963 for the theme “Ti guarderò nel cuore” (in English “More”) from the soundtrack of Nino Oliviero and Ritz Ortolani.

Mondo Cane is considered the forerunner of the cinematographic genre of sensationalists documentaries, named “mondo movies”. Their aim was to impress the public, showing exotic cultures and costumes, extravagant and grotesque images of a variety of ethnic groups from every corner of the world.

anyway, you can find out something more on WIKIPEDIA - MONDO CANE

SPOILER (click to view)
...excuse me for my English... :P

For us, Italian people, these tunes are part of our history.... We have listened to these songs for years, even unconsciously (these songs are often used as background music in 60s documentary or films)...
They are old tunes but still enjoyed and appreciated today...
So, I was very thrilled when I listened to Patton sing these songs... :emo:
